چکیده

Consider a complete directed graph in which each arc has a given length. There is a set ofjobs, each job i located at some node of the graph, with an associated processing time h i , and whose execution has to start within a prespecified time window [ r ; , d i ] . We have a single server that can move on the arcs of the graph, a t unit speed, and that has to execute all of the jobs within their respective time windows. We consider the following two problems: (a) minimize the time by which all jobs are executed (traveling salesman problem) and (b) minimize the sum of the waiting times of the jobs (traveling repairman problem). We focus on the following two special cases: (a) The jobs are located on a line and (b) the number of nodes of the graph is bounded by some integer constant B. Furthermore, we consider in detail the special cases where (a) all of the processing times are 0, (b) all of the release times ri are 0, and (c) all of the deadlines d i are infinite. For many of the resulting problem combinations, we settle their complexity either by establishing NP-completeness o r by presenting polynomial (or pseudopolynomial) time algorithms. Finally, we derive algorithms for the case where, for any time t, the number of jobs that can be executed at that time is bounded.

A Review on Traveling Repairman Problem

Suppose G=(V,A) be an undirected graph with n nodes and a source vertex s Є V. Each node has a problem that must be solved by the repairman that has send. We are given the time required by the repairman to travel among nodes. The objective is to find a tour that minimizes the total waiting time of all the problems that are waiting to be solved. Traveling Repairman problem (TRP) is also known as...

New Heuristic Algorithms for Solving Single-Vehicle and Multi-Vehicle Generalized Traveling Salesman Problems (GTSP)

Among numerous NP-hard problems, the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) has been one of the most explored, yet unknown one. Even a minor modification changes the problem’s status, calling for a different solution. The Generalized Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP)expands the TSP to a much more complicated form, replacing single nodes with a group or cluster of nodes, where the objective is to fi...

A Decision Support System for Urban Journey Planning in Multimodal Public Transit Network

The goal of this paper is to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) as a journey planner in complex and large multimodal urban network called Rahyar. Rahyar attempts to identify the most desirable itinerary among all feasible alternatives. The desirability of an itinerary is measured by a disutility function, which is defined as a weighted sum of some criteria. The weight...

Speedup in the Traveling Repairman Problem with Unit Time Windows

The input to the unrooted traveling repairman problem is an undirected metric graph and a subset of nodes, each of which has a time window of unit length. Given that a repairman can start at any location, the goal is to plan a route that visits as many nodes as possible during their respective time windows. A polynomial-time bicriteria approximation algorithm is presented for this problem, gain...

Solving the Multiple Traveling Salesman Problem by a Novel Meta-heuristic Algorithm

The multiple traveling salesman problem (MTSP) is a generalization of the famous traveling salesman problem (TSP), where more than one salesman is used in the solution. Although the MTSP is a typical kind of computationally complex combinatorial optimization problem, it can be extended to a wide variety of routing problems. This paper presents an efficient and evolutionary optimization algorith...
